Architecture Courses

The Architecture program consists of the basics of architecture and principles of design in preparation for two subsequent major projects. The core of the architecture program focuses on free hand drafting which is an essential tool for students who are entering post-secondary school. Students learn the primary principles of form and design, space, order and scale when creating the designs of any building structure. Students will learn architectural graphics and drawing techniques as well as the primary steps required for developing architectural drawings. The program is considered to be studio based where students have class time to draft designs and work on exercises in exploring their creative ideas and originality. Students solidify their knowledge through a design project where that applies drafting skills and use their imagination to design something of their own. The subsequent model home construction project allows students to experiment with scale, drafting, form, perception of space, and creating imaginative ideas. Architecture students graduate with a complete portfolio.
