Test Of Character Contest
The Test of Character Contest is an annual design event for Canadian youth. The contest involves design of an original character for the print or digital media.
Last year’s grand finale, held on January 23rd 2009, at the South Common Community Centre was hugely successful where Amy Chang (Cawthra Park Secondary School) & Jarron Evasco (Artesian Drive Public School) were the winners in their respective categories. Eleven other contestants were recognized for their originality, vision and craft. Judith Christine Mills, who was the guest of honour, gave a stirring presentation showcasing the metamorphosis of Mr. Goodfellow, a character from the acclaimed Goodfellow Chronicles. The jury included an eminent panel of practicing graphic artists, illustrators, animators and game designers.
For this year the contest opens on October 15th 2009. Submissions are open until midnight of January 8th 2010. Winners will be announced on January 19th 2010. This year the jury will include kids along with artists, animators, designers and media art practitioners.
