highlight the vibrancy of both the local and the international animation industry.
Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), established in 1976, is the largest
event of its kind in North America, a major film event attracting attendees from
around the world. It presents the world's most cutting-edge, quirky and important
animations.
The Mississauga Independent Film Festival (MIFF) is the premier festival for Canadian
filmmakers. Founded by two independent film makers, MIFF does all it can to be the
most film maker friendly festival there is. MIFF is designed to get you in the door.
The Toronto International Student Animation Festival originated in 2007 as a live
showcase of high-school student animation with awards given to the top entries in
a number of categories.
GIRAF, or the Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival (est. 2005), is an
annual animation festival that runs each November in Calgary. GIRAF celebrates
the spirit of independent, underground, and experimental animation, showcasing
Canadian animators and presenting diverse animations from around the globe.
